Red card and new injury rule occurred together in the Beşiktaş-Eyüpspor match

Red card and new injury rule occurred together in the Beşiktaş-Eyüpspor match

In the first week of the Trendyol Süper Lig, developments that put the visiting team in a difficult position occurred in the match between Beşiktaş and Eyüpspor. In a contest where the home side Beşiktaş's pressing style of play was evident, Eyüpspor struggled both against the black-and-white team and with numerical disadvantages on the pitch.

In the 68th minute of the match, Eyüpspor's David Costa received a second yellow card, and thus a red card, following a hard challenge on opposing player Hyeon-gyu Oh, leaving his team with 10 men. This red card became a significant turning point that affected the outcome of the match.

Around the 80th minute of the match, a new rule implemented by the TFF this season came into play. After Eyüpspor's Ahmed Abdullahi got injured, play was stopped, and under the new rule, the player receiving treatment was not allowed to return to the pitch for 1 minute after play resumed. During this period, Eyüpspor was forced to play with 9 men for a while, due to both the player who received the red card and Abdullahi, who had not yet been able to return to the field.

According to the TFF's new regulation, players whose injuries cause a stoppage in play are kept off the pitch for 1 minute after play resumes. This rule was applied for the first time in the Süper Lig during the Beşiktaş-Eyüpspor match.
