Beşiktaş sets sights on Richard Rios as midfield target

Beşiktaş is looking to strengthen its midfield during the summer transfer window and has turned its attention to a new name. The Black Eagles' top target in this position is Colombian international Richard Rios, currently playing for Benfica. Following the Portuguese club's acquisition of Joao Palhinha from Bayern Munich, Rios, who plays in the same role, has reportedly become surplus to requirements.

According to Italian journalist Nicolo Schira, Beşiktaş's management has already prepared a four-year contract for the 26-year-old player. The club reportedly wants to complete the transfer through a loan deal with an option to buy. This approach would give Beşiktaş financial flexibility while also allowing for a permanent transfer depending on the player's performance.

However, according to reports, the two clubs have not yet reached a full agreement. The Lisbon side is said to be demanding a loan fee of 3 million euros, along with a mandatory purchase option. Beşiktaş officials are continuing negotiations with Benfica over this figure.

This development comes after a challenging period in Beşiktaş's search for midfield reinforcements. The club had previously shown interest in players like Joe Willock and Marc Casado but failed to complete those deals. Having already brought in Fabio Miretti on loan from Juventus, Beşiktaş has now shifted its focus to Richard Rios.
