Beşiktaş's new defender Ümit Akdağ arrives in Istanbul

Beşiktaş have bolstered their defence by signing young centre-back Ümit Akdağ, who has now arrived in Istanbul to join the black-and-whites. The 22-year-old, departing Corendon Alanyaspor, landed at the domestic terminal of Istanbul Airport at 17.05, exactly as the club had announced beforehand.

The young defender has reportedly agreed a four-year contract with the Beşiktaş management. Following his arrival in Istanbul, he will undergo medical examinations before officially putting pen to paper. The club informed its supporters that the transfer had entered its final stage and would be completed shortly.

Speaking to reporters at the airport, Ümit Akdağ could hardly contain his excitement. The young player said: 'I am very happy and proud. I hope it will be beneficial for both sides. The transfer process went very quickly. Hopefully we will become champions.' His words reflected his genuine delight at joining Beşiktaş.
