Besiktas beat Midtjylland away as well, advancing in the Europa League

Besiktas faced Midtjylland in the second leg of the UEFA Europa League second qualifying round in the Danish city of Herning. Having won the first leg in Istanbul 1-0, the black-and-whites also won the away match 2-0, making the aggregate score 3-0 and successfully advancing through the round. While the first half of the match ended goalless, the black-and-whites took control in the second half.

In the 53rd minute, the home team's Martin Erlic was sent off after receiving a second yellow card. Besiktas made good use of their numerical advantage, taking the lead in the 70th minute through a goal from substitute Milot Rashica. Rashica met the ball from Olaitan's pass and struck it into the net from outside the box.

Besiktas cemented their advantage in the 76th minute, converting a penalty awarded after Ilhan Fakili was fouled in the penalty area. Orkun Kökçü took the penalty, sending the ball into the net to the goalkeeper's left, making the score 2-0. Both teams had found chances close to scoring earlier in the match, but especially in the first half, shots that hit the post prevented either side from celebrating a goal for some time.

With this victory, Besiktas advanced to the third qualifying round of the UEFA Europa League, where their opponent will be the Czech club Hradec Kralove. The round will be played on a two-legged elimination basis, with matches taking place between August 6-13. The black-and-whites will play their first match away from home.
