Fatih Tekke withdraws resignation, stays on as Trabzonspor coach

Trabzonspor were eliminated from European competition after losing away to Ferencvaros in the second leg of the UEFA Europa League play-off round. Immediately after the match, head coach Fatih Tekke announced that he was resigning from his position. However, the club's management did not accept his resignation and asked him to continue in his role.

Following that decision, Fatih Tekke was back leading the team's training session today. Trabzonspor are currently preparing for their Trendyol Süper Lig matchday 3 fixture against Amed Sportif Faaliyetler. Tekke addressed the background of his resignation for the first time in a statement published on the club's official website.

The coach explained that he made the decision entirely on his own initiative, in a moment of emotional intensity right after the defeat to Ferencvaros. Acknowledging his responsibility toward Trabzonspor and its supporters, Tekke thanked club president Ertuğrul Doğan, the board of directors, the players and his coaching staff for the trust and support they showed him.

In his statement, Tekke said the squad consists of a strong and valuable group of players, adding that existing shortcomings would be addressed and the team would keep growing stronger. He reiterated the club's ambitious targets both domestically and in Europe, expressing confidence in the team's strength and the players' character.

Tekke said it was time to draw a line under the Ferencvaros defeat and look ahead. He called for the team to fight together and rise together, stressing that they would continue their campaign for Trabzonspor with the same belief, determination and sense of responsibility.
