Fenerbahçe eye new center-back: Official bid submitted to Nice for Kojo Peprah Oppong

Fenerbahçe have completed their UEFA Champions League play-off tie against Olympique Lyon. After a 1-1 draw in the first leg at home, the Istanbul side won 2-1 away in France, securing a 3-2 aggregate victory. The result marks Fenerbahçe's return to the Champions League group stage for the first time in 17 years. Following this significant achievement, the club's attention quickly turned back to the transfer market.

Looking to strengthen the squad for Champions League competition, Fenerbahçe have accelerated their efforts in the final days of the transfer window. The club has been planning to add a young U23 defender, and it appears they have found their target in France. The player in question is 22-year-old Ghanaian center-back Kojo Peprah Oppong, currently playing for Nice.

According to a report from L'Equipe, Fenerbahçe have submitted an official offer exceeding 10 million euros to Nice for the player, and negotiations between the two clubs have already begun. The same report noted that Trabzonspor are also interested in the young defender and have shown interest in a potential transfer. It was also highlighted that Nice would make a significant profit on the sale, having signed Oppong from Swedish club Norrköping last season for just 2.7 million euros.

Kojo Peprah Oppong's performances last season also drew attention. The young defender made 43 appearances across all competitions, logging 3465 minutes on the pitch. These figures reflect how regularly he featured for Nice throughout the campaign. Should Fenerbahçe complete the deal, the club would be adding an experienced young player to bolster their defensive line.
