Fenerbahçe Secretary General Mahmut Uslu referred to PFDK over statements made after Gençlerbirliği match

Among the PFDK referrals announced by the TFF following the matches of the first week of the Trendyol Süper Lig was Fenerbahçe Secretary General Mahmut Nedim Uslu. The justification for the referral against Uslu was stated as 'statements damaging the reputation of football' and 'threat'. According to the TFF's official statement, this referral was made without precautionary measures in accordance with Articles 38 and 41 of the Football Disciplinary Instructions.

The statements that led to the referral had been made immediately after the match in which Fenerbahçe lost 2-1 away to Gençlerbirliği. In those statements, Uslu had argued that the team could not compete under equal conditions, claiming that decisions were being made against them in direct confrontations. Uslu also said that the league could not continue this way, using the phrase 'we will do whatever comes to mind'.

Uslu was not the only name referred to the disciplinary committee that same week. While clubs such as Galatasaray, Arca Çorum FK and Fenerbahçe were referred over grounds of offensive chanting and acting contrary to instructions, Gaziantep FK and Amed Sportif Faaliyetler were also sent to the PFDK on similar charges. Fenerbahçe club was additionally referred separately over incidents that occurred on the pitch and for not keeping stairway gaps clear.

The decision to be made by the PFDK regarding the matter is being awaited with curiosity. Mahmut Uslu's statements had sparked debate among the public, and this step by the TFF showed that the process would be handled on an official basis.
