Fenerbahçe's new signing Romelu Lukaku arrives in Istanbul

One of the most important moves on Fenerbahçe's transfer agenda has been completed. Experienced striker Romelu Lukaku, who has agreed to a 1+1 year contract with the club, flew from Brussels to Istanbul on a private jet and landed at Sabiha Gökçen Airport. The Belgian center forward was greeted at the airport by club executives, led by Football Director Oğuz Çetin.

Speaking to members of the press, Lukaku thanked President Aziz Yıldırım, Cihan Kamer, Oğuz Çetin, and head coach İsmail Kartal for the trust shown in him. The experienced player emphasized that his goal in joining the team was to win the championship this season, saying he believed he was joining a quality squad and would work hard toward that goal. Lukaku also thanked fans for their overwhelming messages of support and promised to give his best on the pitch.

Before leaving the airport, Lukaku greeted the Fenerbahçe fans who had come to welcome him and cheered along with the supporters who showed their affection. Football Director Oğuz Çetin stated that the transfer holds great importance for the club, and reminded that the contract would extend to a second year in the event of a championship win. Çetin also noted that Lukaku had no financial concerns and, despite Napoli's demands, had made sacrifices himself to help finalize the agreement.

According to reports, Fenerbahçe will pay Italian club Napoli a transfer fee of 6 million euros for the 33-year-old player; a 2 million euro option clause will also be added to the contract. Lukaku is expected to sign the official contract in the coming days following his medical examinations.
