Fenerbahçe's Dorgeles Nene shines with a brace for Mali

In the opening match of Group K in the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, Mali hosted Cape Verde on home soil. The hosts took an early lead in the 5th minute thanks to a goal from Ange Tia. However, the visitors were quick to respond and level the score.

Sidny Lopes Cabral, who plays for Trabzonspor, converted a free kick in the 10th minute to make it 1-1. This goal allowed Cape Verde to restore parity early in the match. Despite chances on both sides, the score remained unchanged for the rest of the first half.

The decisive factor in the match turned out to be Fenerbahçe player Dorgeles Nene. He put Mali back in front in the 39th minute with a well-taken goal. Just after the break, in the 51st minute, he struck again, completing his brace and effectively deciding the outcome of the match.

Thanks to Nene's two goals, Mali secured a 3-1 victory and claimed maximum points from their opening qualifier. The performance drew close attention from Fenerbahçe supporters following the youngster's form with the national team.

Looking to continue their strong start, Mali will travel to face Liberia on September 29 in their next group match. On the same day, Cape Verde will host Rwanda at home. Both sides will be aiming for another positive result to strengthen their standing in the group.
