Fenerbahçe's Oosterwolde undergoes surgery, announces return date

Fenerbahçe's Dutch defender Jayden Oosterwolde underwent surgery on his left hamstring after his transfer to Italian club Roma fell through at the last minute. According to an official statement from the club, the operation was carried out in Finland by a specialist doctor and was successful. The move to Roma had collapsed after the injury was discovered during medical checks, leaving Oosterwolde to continue his career in yellow and navy blue.

In a statement posted on the club's social media account, Fenerbahçe said extensive assessments had been carried out with specialist doctors both in Turkey and abroad regarding the player's condition. Both surgical and non-surgical treatment options were thoroughly examined before a decision was reached. The club noted that surgery was determined to be the most suitable option for the player's long-term health and sporting career, with Oosterwolde's own opinion also taken into account. Fenerbahçe added that his treatment and rehabilitation process will be closely monitored by the medical team.

Fenerbahçe board member Cihan Kamer had already addressed Oosterwolde's situation during a press conference held for a sponsorship agreement. Kamer explained that the transfer had fallen through due to the injury, that the player would be considered as a squad option going forward, and that he was scheduled to undergo surgery that same day. His comments were later confirmed when the club officially announced the operation.

Oosterwolde himself shared an encouraging message with fans via his social media account. The Dutch player wrote that he looks forward to reuniting with Fenerbahçe supporters at Kadıköy in early December. The statement suggests he is targeting a return to action within a few months following his rehabilitation.
