Lukaku's Fenerbahçe confession: I'll return home after two years

Romelu Lukaku, who wore the jersey for the first time in Fenerbahçe's 1-1 draw against Lyon in the UEFA Champions League play-off round, made important statements to the press of his home country about the future after the match. Reminding that he signed a one-year contract with the yellow-navy club with an option to extend for an additional year, the Belgian striker stated that he plans to return home after completing this process.

Emphasizing that he wants to play at both club and national team level until 2030, Lukaku noted that there are footballers who can play until the age of 40 and said this is a matter of mentality. The experienced forward admitted that he had an unproductive season last year due to injuries, describing this period as the worst year of his career. Speaking about his departure from Napoli, Lukaku also argued that claims he was not physically ready were untrue.

The Belgian center-forward stated that he was greatly impressed by the atmosphere at Kadıköy, saying he rarely encounters such an extraordinary atmosphere. He conveyed that he wants more playing time but is aware he needs to be patient due to the limited training process. Describing his transfer to Fenerbahçe as a new and professional experience, the player noted that he is motivated to play at a competitive level.
