Okan Buruk: We Have Significant Absences Ahead of Sporting Clash

Galatasaray will travel to face Sporting in their opening UEFA Champions League fixture of the season. Ahead of the match, head coach Okan Buruk addressed the press and shared important details about his team's preparation. Buruk explained that due to certain absences, the starting lineup would feature the players currently best prepared physically.

The experienced manager discussed the club's new signings, noting that Leao and Deniz Gül had already featured in matches and could be used again as the game progresses. He pointed out that Bitshiabu has had less playing time compared to his teammates, adding that the young player would be gradually integrated into the squad over the coming matches. Buruk's comments suggest a patient approach to building squad depth this season.

Buruk emphasized that the starting eleven facing Sporting would be a group of willing and believing players, adding that in-game decisions would carry significant weight. He noted that the opposition had also made three changes to their squad, describing Sporting as a highly mobile team that rarely stays static and pushes forward quickly in attack. For this reason, he stressed that playing compactly and cohesively as a unit would be crucial.

According to Buruk, the speed of defensive-to-attacking transitions, along with attacking transitions themselves, could prove decisive in the match. He reminded reporters that his side is known for strong pressing, adding that the moments following the press would also be vital. Acknowledging that Galatasaray face a quality opponent, Okan Buruk closed his remarks by expressing hope that his team would leave the pitch with a victory.
