TFF Arbitration Board Rejects Galatasaray's Turkish Cup Appeal

The Arbitration Board of the Turkish Football Federation (TFF) has concluded its review of Galatasaray's objection concerning the status of Turkish Cup matches in the 2026-2027 season. Following a detailed examination, the board decided to reject the club's appeal. An official statement from the TFF emphasized that the matter had been handled with careful scrutiny.

According to the statement, the legal review of the TFF Board's decision found no violations regarding procedure, substance, or regulations. Based on this finding, the Arbitration Board unanimously rejected the objection. The ruling stated that no legal or technical issues were identified in the original decision.

The dispute stems from an earlier TFF decision allowing players who could not be registered on Süper Lig clubs' first-team lists for league matches—but who are eligible to play for the national team—as well as foreign players, to feature in Turkish Cup matches. Galatasaray had protested this regulation in a statement issued on August 26 and subsequently brought the matter before the TFF Arbitration Board.

In the same session, the Arbitration Board also upheld a 280,000 lira fine imposed on Fenerbahçe over incidents on the pitch caused by fans. Two separate matters concerning major clubs were thus decided in a single sitting. These TFF rulings are expected to put an end to ongoing disputes among clubs regarding squad regulations for the Turkish Cup.
