Trabzonspor working to resolve financial obstacles in Darwin Nunez transfer
Trabzonspor, searching for reinforcements up front after Mohamed Salah, is down to the final act in its pursuit of Al Hilal's Uruguayan star Darwin Nunez, with only financial details left to iron out.

Trabzonspor, which has been in the headlines over the Salah transfer, wants to bolster its attacking line by bringing in Darwin Nunez, currently playing for Al Hilal. It is reported that talks between the Uruguayan striker — said to have fallen short of expectations in Saudi Arabia and to be seeking a move away — and his club could be concluded soon. Although the maroon-and-blue management appears to have largely reached an agreement with the player, the official signing still depends on the clarification of certain financial matters.
According to reports, the most critical sticking point in the negotiations stems from a mandatory purchase clause that Al Hilal wants to include in a potential loan deal. While the Saudi club insists on this high-value condition, Trabzonspor is negotiating for more flexible terms in order to reduce financial risk. In addition, it is claimed that Nunez is owed approximately 12 million euros in accumulated payments from Al Hilal, with the payment plan and taxation process for this amount forming another dimension of the talks. In the case of a loan, Trabzonspor is reported to have committed to covering only 8 million euros of the player's 22-million-euro annual salary, with how the remainder will be covered still unclear.
The 27-year-old striker moved to Al Hilal from Liverpool for 53 million euros at the start of last season and has a contract with the club until 2028. Nunez has made 24 official appearances for the Saudi side, directly contributing to 14 goals with 9 goals and 5 assists. The Uruguayan star, currently left out of the squad and continuing individual training, is listed with a market value of 20 million euros; besides playing as a center forward, he can also play on the left wing.
If the transfer is completed today, Trabzonspor's management plans to include Nunez on the UEFA list and register him for the squad ahead of the Ferencvaros matches. There is great curiosity as to whether Nunez, who was directly involved in 34 goals and 20 assists alongside Salah at Liverpool last season, will now reunite with his former teammate in the Süper Lig.
