The Salah Effect at Trabzonspor: Başakşehir Leave Empty-Handed from Away Trip

In the 2nd week of the Trendyol Süper Lig, Trabzonspor hosted Başakşehir at home and defeated their guests 2-1 to secure their first win of the season. The maroon-blue team's new signing, Muhammed Salah, left his mark on the match by scoring both of his team's goals. Başakşehir's only goal came in the 19th minute from a penalty by Eldor Shomurodov. With this result, Trabzonspor raised their points to 4, while the Istanbul side remained on 3 points.

The Egyptian star made his presence felt as early as the 8th minute. Following a cross from Aral Şimşir from the left, after goalkeeper Muhammed Şengezer failed to control the ball, Salah's shot hit the post and went in; referee Ali Şansalan initially awarded a corner kick, but after VAR review it was determined that the ball had crossed the line, and the goal was confirmed. The visiting team found the equalizer in the 19th minute. After the ball struck Nwaiwu's hand, Şansalan pointed to the penalty spot following a VAR warning; Shomurodov converted the penalty, making the score 1-1.

In the remainder of the first half, both teams created scoring chances, but the score remained unchanged. Right at the start of the second half, in the 48th minute, Salah received the ball inside the penalty area from a pass by Muçi and sent it into the net with a beautiful shot past goalkeeper Şengezer, completing his personal brace and putting his team back in the lead. In the remaining minutes, both teams had clear opportunities, but the goalkeepers made successful saves that prevented the score from changing, and the match ended with Trabzonspor's 2-1 victory.

Before the match, Trabzonspor's stands were filled with great interest, just as in the Ferencvaros match; all stands except the away section were packed with fans. Another notable detail was that a group of miners invited from Zonguldak sat in the stands wearing their helmets. Before the match, these miners presented head coach Fatih Tekke with a miner statue and flowers.
