Trabzonspor's New Coach Thomas Reis Arrives in the City
German coach Thomas Reis, 52, who has reached a preliminary agreement with Trabzonspor, has arrived in the city to sign his contract.
Trabzonspor has ended its search for a new head coach following the departure of Fatih Tekke, announcing a preliminary agreement with 52-year-old German coach Thomas Reis. Reis flew to Trabzon on a private jet from Bulgaria to finalize negotiations and officially sign his contract with the club.
Upon landing at Trabzon Airport, the German tactician was greeted by a large group of fans bearing flowers. Reis put on a claret-and-blue scarf and posed for photos at the fans' request before getting into the club car amid warm applause and leaving the airport. The enthusiastic welcome underlined just how eager supporters are for their new coach.

According to reports, Trabzonspor will pay compensation to Reis's former club, Ludogorets, to complete the transfer. Once the contract is officially signed, the German coach will take charge of his first match with Trabzonspor against Galatasaray. The fixture is seen as an important early test for the new era at the club.
Thomas Reis coached Samsunspor in the Süper Lig during the 2024-2025 season, recording 33 wins and 21 losses in 72 matches for a points average of 1.63. At his current club, Bulgarian side Ludogorets, he has won 7 of 11 matches this season, suffering only one defeat — away to Hapoel Tel Aviv in Conference League qualifying. Earlier in his career, Reis managed several clubs in Germany, including Bochum II, the U19 sides of Bochum and Wolfsburg, Bochum's first team, and Schalke 04, and he is now preparing for a new chapter at Trabzonspor.
