Penalty, Red Card and Disallowed Goal Mark Başakşehir-Galatasaray Clash

Başakşehir hosted Galatasaray in a Week 4 fixture of the Trendyol Süper Lig. The match's decisive moments largely unfolded in the second half. Refereeing decisions had a major impact on how the game played out.

In the 63rd minute, a challenge between Roland Sallai and Abbosbek Fayzullaev saw the Uzbek player go down, prompting referee Kadir Sağlam to award a penalty to Başakşehir. Galatasaray manager Okan Buruk reacted furiously to the decision, protesting strongly to the officials. Following his heated objections, referee Kadir Sağlam booked the experienced coach with a yellow card.

The hosts were reduced to ten men in the 79th minute. Umut Bozok was shown a straight red card after sliding in recklessly on Rafael Leao inside the Galatasaray penalty area. As a result, Başakşehir had to play out the remainder of the match with a man down.

In the 83rd minute, Galatasaray thought they had found the breakthrough, though the celebration proved short-lived. Gabriel Sara whipped in a curling left-footed cross to the far post, which Davinson Sanchez glanced home with a header. However, the goal was sent to VAR review over a possible offside, and after roughly five minutes of checking, it was ruled out. The late strike by the Istanbul side therefore did not stand.
