Dursun Özbek backs Okan Buruk: "Our trust remains complete"

Speculation grew over the future of Galatasaray coach Okan Buruk after the team suffered a 4-0 away loss to Trabzonspor. Club president Dursun Özbek moved to put an end to the rumors with a written statement addressing the matter directly. He firmly stated that claims circulating in the media and on social platforms, attributed to him and the board, did not reflect reality.

According to Özbek, he personally called Buruk right after the match to lift his spirits and reassure him of the club's full confidence in him. He added that the two also held a face-to-face meeting at the training facility on Sunday following practice, during which they discussed the team's situation and the road ahead. Özbek stressed that their faith and trust in Buruk remained just as strong as it had been the day before.

The Galatasaray chief said the club was once again facing attempts by certain circles to exploit every dropped point and stir unrest within the institution. He pointed out that those who stayed silent when Galatasaray won suddenly produced crisis narratives after a single poor result, suggesting their real concern was not the club itself. Özbek reaffirmed that the same commitment and determination shown throughout Buruk's four years in charge would continue going forward.

He acknowledged that the result against Trabzonspor had disappointed the supporters, but insisted that he, the board, the coaching staff, the players and the fans would stand united and stay true to their objectives. Özbek concluded by stating that the club's full focus was now on securing a fifth consecutive Süper Lig title while continuing to pursue its European ambitions.
