Fenerbahçe completed preparations for the first leg of the UEFA Champions League 3rd qualifying round match against Austrian side Sturm Graz, which will be hosted at Kadıköy. The training session, held under İsmail Kartal at the Can Bartu Facilities, consisted of warm-up exercises and a 5-vs-2 possession drill in the portion open to the press, while tactical work was reportedly carried out in the closed session.
Club President Aziz Yıldırım, who arrived at the facilities together with board members, watched the team's training from the pitch side. Yıldırım greeted the fans and also had a brief chat with members of the press. More than a thousand fans who flocked to the facilities before the training cheered on the players from the sidelines with chants of support.
Head coach İsmail Kartal, speaking ahead of the match, said that every Champions League game feels like a final and described Sturm Graz as a strong but beatable opponent. Kartal emphasized that the opponent, under their new manager, was playing a different system and had a young, high-running squad. Regarding the squad, he said that the injured Vedat Muriqi would be included in the team, and that N'Golo Kante, who had started training after his transfer, would take part in his 10th training session and would also be in the squad; he added that he would decide on the goalkeeper on match day.
Team captain Milan Skriniar expressed his satisfaction with the fans' support, saying they wanted to make proud the fans who had been by their side since his first day at the club in tomorrow's match. Skriniar also praised the performance of his teammate Nathan Ake, noting that the English player contributes not only to him but to the entire team.
