Galatasaray edge Göztepe 3-2 in high-scoring clash
In the 3rd week of the Trendyol Süper Lig, Galatasaray defeated Göztepe 3-2 at home in a goal-filled encounter.

Galatasaray hosted Göztepe at RAMS Park in the third round of the Trendyol Süper Lig, and the match in Seyrantepe turned into a thrilling goal duel. The home side ultimately came out on top with a 3-2 victory. Göztepe struck first, taking the lead in the 16th minute through Novatus Miroshi. The leveling goal came in the 33rd minute when Torreira headed down a free-kick delivery from Sallai, with the ball deflecting in off Davinson Sanchez inside the six-yard box. Galatasaray took charge at the start of the second half, moving ahead in the 55th minute through Gabriel Sara, who converted after a clever backheel assist from Osimhen. The home side extended their advantage just minutes later in the 63rd minute from the penalty spot. Following a VAR review, referee Mehmet Türkmen awarded a penalty, which Victor Osimhen converted to make it 3-1.

Göztepe responded quickly, pulling one back through Juan Santos in the 65th minute to make it 3-2, keeping the contest alive until the final whistle. A header from Osimhen in the 67th minute was disallowed after a VAR check ruled him offside. Both sides created further opportunities in the closing stages, but the score remained unchanged, and Galatasaray secured the 3-2 win.
With this result, Galatasaray moved up to 7 points and, according to reports, took top spot in the standings with a game in hand. The Istanbul side will travel to face Başakşehir in their next league fixture. Göztepe, meanwhile, will look to bounce back from the defeat when they host Gaziantep FK at home.
