Okan Buruk gives update on Uğurcan Çakır and Abdülkerim Bardakcı injuries

In week three of the Trendyol Süper Lig, Galatasaray hosted Göztepe at Rams Park and came away with a 3-2 victory. The match was overshadowed by two injury scares, as goalkeeper Uğurcan Çakır was unable to take the field at all, while defender Abdülkerim Bardakcı had to be substituted during the game.

Uğurcan Çakır had originally been named in the starting lineup, but was missing from the squad when the teams walked out for the pre-match ceremony. Jankat Yılmaz took his place in goal, making his first appearance of the season. According to a report from beIN Sports, the experienced goalkeeper felt discomfort after warming up and was unable to play; Uğurcan had played the full 90 minutes in each of Galatasaray's first two league matches this season.

Abdülkerim Bardakcı, who started the match, was replaced by Aleksey Batrakov in the second half. Speaking after the game, head coach Okan Buruk provided details on both players' conditions. On Uğurcan, Buruk said: 'It was a surprise right as he was about to step onto the pitch, he felt pain in his foot. We suddenly had to bring on Jankat instead. I don't think it's anything serious, he should recover within a day or two.'

Buruk also addressed Abdülkerim Bardakcı's situation, explaining that the defender suffered a mild ankle sprain. 'It twisted slightly, I don't think it's anything major, he'll be back training with the team in a few days,' the coach said, striking an optimistic tone. He added that aside from these two cases, the squad has no other significant injury concerns.
