Beşiktaş issues sharp statement over Vlahovic reports, announces legal action

The club claims that news of the one-match ban and 100,000 Turkish lira fine imposed on the player was leaked to the press before the official notification was issued.

According to the black-and-white club's statement, a journalist shared the information on social media approximately one hour and forty minutes before the official confirmation arrived. Beşiktaş described this as no coincidence, alleging that the journalist deliberately targeted the player. The club's management stressed that such disclosures damage both the player's reputation and the club's public image.

A notable point in the statement was the club's emphasis on the fact that its football team operates under a publicly listed company. Beşiktaş noted that the premature leak could also negatively affect investors holding shares in Beşiktaş Futbol A.Ş., adding a commercial dimension to what would otherwise be a purely sporting matter. The club stated that shareholders now face the risk of financial harm as a result.

Beşiktaş's management announced that legal proceedings have been initiated against the journalist in question to protect the rights of the club, the player, and its investors. The statement argued that the individual's conduct was incompatible with journalistic principles and constituted a criminal offense. The club said the matter would be pursued through the courts and that necessary steps would be taken.
